Citymeals on Wheels provides a continuous lifeline of nourishing meals and vital companionship to New York City’s homebound elderly. Citymeals prepares and delivers weekend, holiday and emergency meals for nearly 22,000 of our vulnerable older neighbors. We have delivered over 72 million meals since our founding in 1981. Last year, Citymeals delivered 2.2 million meals. That's 10% more meals than the previous fiscal year, in part due to new pilot programs. We also delivered over 255,942 pounds of fresh produce. Almost 17,000 volunteers gave 30,000 hours of service to our mission. Citymeals has set an ambitious goal to end elder hunger in New York City by 2040. 100% of all public donations will be used entirely for the preparation and delivery of meals, thanks to the generosity of our Board of Directors, the City of New York, sponsors and other designated gifts.
