Clayton State University is a public higher education institution located in Morrow, Georgia, and it is part of the University System of Georgia. The main campus spans about 163 acres in a wooded area with ponds and a lake in north-central Clayton County, about 15 minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport; an instructional site operates in Peachtree City. Founded in 1969 as Clayton Junior College, the school became a four-year institution in 1986, later named Clayton College & State University in 1996 and Clayton State University in 2005; the university offers eight master’s degree programs and 40 baccalaureate majors.
