The Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center is a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs hospital located on 125 acres on the western edge of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is part of VA Integrated Services Network 12 (VISN 12). It delivers primary, secondary, and tertiary medical care in 168 acute care beds and supports an extensive outpatient program that handles more than 500,000 visits annually. The campus includes a 113-bed nursing home care unit with geriatric programming and a 356-bed domiciliary facility offering programs in substance abuse rehabilitation, psychiatric rehabilitation, and post-traumatic stress disorder care. The Medical Center operates a mobile primary care clinic four days a week to improve access for veterans in Milwaukee County and provides support to the Vet Center located in Milwaukee; it also participates in a four-way partnership to operate Vets Place Central, a 72-bed transitional housing program. Milwaukee also hosts community-based outpatient clinics in Appleton, Cleveland, Green Bay, and Union Grove, serving a veteran population of 234,953 in southeastern and east central Wisconsin. The Medical Center serves as the VA Great Lakes Health Care System's northern tier hub for imaging and pathology/laboratory medicine, and maintains specialized programs including interventional radiology, cardiac surgery, comprehensive cancer care with radiation therapy, an extensive telemedicine program with the Iron Mountain VAMC, a spinal cord injury unit, geriatric evaluation and management, and palliative care.
