Climate Action Network International (CAN) is a non-profit coalition that connects more than 2,000 civil society groups across over 130 countries to address climate change. It collaborates with a broad spectrum of movements—including trade unions, gender coalitions, and Indigenous Peoples' groups—to pursue climate solutions that also advance social and racial justice. The network develops bottom-up, network-wide strategies and positions on international, regional, and national climate issues through its national and regional hubs, known as Nodes. Based in Bonn, in the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany, CAN operates as a globally connected nonprofit. Its online presence dates back to 1998, when it launched its first website. In November 2025, CAN Europe and Fossil Free Politics announced the Civil Society Pledge for Fossil Free Politics, a coordinated call to end fossil fuel influence in policymaking.
