Jim Coffman has retired and officially closed the firm on December 31, 2022.
Coffman Studio is an Arizona based landscape architecture and planning firm formed in 2004 specializing in open space, parks, recreation, historic preservation, campus, senior multi-housing, custom residential and multi-modal planning and design. The firm’s primary goal is to connect people to place through professional planning and design services that are responsive to the site, the culture and client’s needs.  The public and private sector client base comes from referrals from satisfied clients, repeat business and the strong reputation of the firm’s President whose experience mixes 26+ years of private and public sector planning and landscape architecture work.  Coffman Studio thrives on the energy derived from multi-disciplinary collaborations.

Some clients include the cities of Phoenix, Scottsdale, Glendale, Peoria, Maricopa, and Tucson; Northern AZ University, Pima County, the Towns of Queen Creek, Florence, and Marana; the Maricopa Assoc. of Governments, and the Master Planned Communities of Anthem and Verrado, and numerous residential clients throughout the Phoenix area.  Strategic planning and design partners have included AECOM/EDAW, J2 Engineering and Environmental Design, Will Bruder Architects, HDR Engineering, and others.  

Mr. Coffman has won numerous local and state awards for his trail and planning work and his residential design, including the top honor for the 'Pond House' by the Arizona Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects in 2008, the' Colony House' in 2014 along with Landscape Architect of the year as well as Educator of the Year.
