The Collegium Augustinianum is a research institute and specialized graduate school for philosophy and theology. Continuing the scholarly legacy of Mgr. Henri-Nicolas Sylvestre Guillon, Père Armand-Benjamin Caillau and Père Jacques Paul Migne begun in 1849, the Collegium Augustinianum was formally chartered as a College of Fellows in 1999 by some of the leading Augustinian scholars in the world to advance the thought of St. Augustine of Hippo and the venerable Augustinian tradition in Western philosophy and theology, including renowned scholars such as Tarcisius Van Bavel, O.S.A. (Leuven), Frederick Van Fleteren (Villanova), Roland J. Teske, S.J. (Marquette) and Vincent Zarini (Paris). Through our Fellows and faculty, our colleagues and students continue this venerable intellectual lineage that further connects us with other Augustinian luminaries like John J. O’Meara, Pierre Courcelle, Jacques Paul Migne and many other great scholars through the ages. Today, the Collegium Augustinianum continues its legacy as a community of scholars centered in the French Alps, providing sabbatical opportunities for scholars seeking a quiet and scholarly space for research and writing on St. Augustine of Hippo and the Augustinian intellectual tradition.
