Collins Manufacturing was founded in 1972 in Ashland, Oregon by Collins Hassell as the exclusive manufacturer of the Hi-Speed® Dolly. Following in their father’s footsteps of working in the logging and trucking industry. Collins Hassell and his brother Ray founded Hassell Fabrication in 1954, which still operates today and specializes in building logging bunks for carrying heavy timber loads in the famous Oregon logging industry. In 1972, Collins Hassell was approached by salesman Charlie Nowell with an idea to design the World’s first articulating self-loading tow dolly. With roots in manufacturing products for the logging industry that were designed to carry heavy loads up to 50,000lbs, Collins Hassel used his industry knowledge to design a product to carry cars. This design would become the Collins Hi-Speed® Dolly and permanently impact the towing industry. Collins Manufacturing has been family owned and operated for three generations starting with Collins Hassell, followed by his son Curtis, and now his grandson Chris.
