Colonial Trust Company and Colonial Trust Advisors are a state chartered private trust company and Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), respectively.  Our firm provides investment management, trust services and financial planning to our clients through our four offices in South Carolina.  The foundational principles of Colonial are to provide our clients a high level of service, with a low and transparent fee structure, and an understandable and quality oriented investment approach.  

Colonial Trust Company is a century old trust company, founded in South Carolina in 1913.  As the only state chartered trust company in the state, we have a niche offering as a boutique, family office style trust company that is uniquely positioned to compete with bank trust departments.  The company is private and family owned with two generations of each family involved in the key management of the firm.  Coupling a private trust company with an investment management firm allows our firm to provide a suite of services to our clients that are not readily available from most of our competitors.  

Each of our offices is staffed by team members who are dedicated to going the extra mile for our clients.  Our clients pay an asset based fee structure, without hidden charges or commissions.  This structure ensures we don’t have a conflict or are incentivized to act in a certain manner.  Our investment committee develops a top down view of the economy and markets to provide context in strategic asset allocation.  This committee also provides security selection for an actively managed equity and fixed income portfolio.  The hallmark of our equity approach is to take positions in quality, blue chip companies with a durable competitive advantage and leverage to a long-term theme.
