Colonie Youth Center, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit organization devoted to improving the wellness of children and their families through a range of programs. It operates at the Rudy A. Ciccotti Family Recreation Center, offering sports, fitness, and recreation, in addition to affordable school-age child care and summer day camp. The center also provides counseling services on a sliding-scale basis, including free or reduced-cost options, and maintains a scholarship fund to assist families in need; this year it has awarded nearly $110,000 in financial support for childcare and counseling. Based in Latham, New York, the organization serves working families that require affordable, reliable care and mental health resources, with the goal of enabling parents to continue working while their children are cared for. Within the non-profit sector, it collaborates with local districts to extend access through before- and after-care programs, and recent community engagement includes participation in the Annual Crossings 5K Challenge and Kids Runs.
