CAHEP is a non-profit organization committed to reducing health disparities in the Asian American Pacific Islanders (AAPI) population in Colorado by providing an inclusive framework of community organizations sharing good practices in health care. CAHEP strives to improve the quality of life by promoting culturally appropriate health education, early detection and self-management of diseases. CAHEP serves the uninsured and underinsured AAPI population in Colorado with screenings for chronic and infectious diseases. It has contributed towards the elimination of health disparities while directly reaching out to the high risk target populations. The high risk people in our communities should be reached by working with the community leaders, people of trust and medical experts who understand their own cultural assets and barriers. CAHEP maintains a network of stakeholders and various AAPI community groups, working together, in a culturally respectful framework in order to first understand the burden of a disease by evidence based screening, and then taking steps to reduce this burden.
