Community Coalition is a nonprofit organization based in South Los Angeles that operates in the civic and social sector. It was founded in 1990 by local community leaders, including U.S. Congresswoman Karen Bass, in response to the crack cocaine epidemic of the 1980s. Its mission is to transform the social and economic conditions in South LA that foster addiction, crime, violence, and poverty by establishing a broad community institution that engages thousands in shaping public policy.

The organization works with African American and Latino residents to foster safer neighborhoods, quality schools, and stronger economic development in South LA. Its efforts are aimed at reducing crime, poverty and substance abuse by reinforcing social supports and promoting local development.
