Community-Word Project is a New York City-based nonprofit focused on arts education, delivering culturally responsive, multidisciplinary art programs for students, Teaching Artists, and communities to develop and amplify their voices and creative skills. The organization pursues this mission through multidisciplinary arts residencies, a comprehensive teaching artist training program, and professional development for classroom teachers and afterschool leaders. It emphasizes pedagogy that seeks to teach students how to think, not what to think. Its programs are aimed at students, Teaching Artists, and communities, with professional development opportunities for teachers and afterschool program leaders. In 2021, the organization added a trainee to its Teaching Artist Project. In 2017, it established collaborations with the Arts in Education Roundtable and with the City University of New York.
