Computers 2 Kids (C2K) is a California-based nonprofit organization that refurbishes donated computers and distributes them to low-income families, aiming to increase computer literacy and access to educational, occupational, and financial resources. The program provides each household with a computer equipped with educational software, training and technical support, and a lifetime replacement policy, along with a partnership that helps make affordable internet available for the family for at least ten years. By collecting and refurbishing devices from donors, C2K addresses the need for secure, environmentally conscious disposal of older equipment while delivering technology to children and caregivers who would otherwise lack access. Founded in the mid-2000s and serving the San Diego area, the organization works within the nonprofit sector to close the digital divide for families and their communities, supported by collaborations with diverse corporate and institutional partners. A notable development in recent years includes a collaboration with Qualcomm to support a digital donation drive aimed at expanding device access for San Diego families in need.
