Con Edison Development operates as an unregulated subsidiary of Consolidated Edison, Inc., developing, owning and operating renewable and energy infrastructure projects. Based in Valhalla, New York, the company concentrates on renewable energy and gas assets as part of its parent’s objective of environmentally responsible operations. Founded in 1997, the firm initially amassed a portfolio of fossil-fueled and hydro merchant generation assets in the Mid-Atlantic and New England, totaling about 1,700 MW, which it sold in 2008. Today, it focuses on developing and operating solar, wind and energy storage installations across the United States as part of Consolidated Edison’s broader renewable footprint. In May 2023, Con Edison Development sold the 150 MW Revolution battery energy storage project to Spearmint Energy, illustrating ongoing activity in asset transactions within the energy infrastructure space.
