The Concord Monitor is an independently owned daily newspaper serving the capital region of central New Hampshire, based in Concord. It traces its roots to the 1864 launch of a daily edition, with origins in the early 1800s weekly New Hampshire Patriot founded by Isaac Hill. The newsroom operates as a mid-sized publication covering local communities and civic life, complemented by associated publications such as The Concord Insider, LiveWell, At Home NH and Green Guide NH, along with ConcordMonitor.com. The paper has earned notable recognition, including a Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography awarded to former staff photographer Preston Gannaway in 2008. In recent years, the Monitor has launched the Environmental Reporting Lab to investigate environmental issues in New Hampshire and has engaged in statewide data collaborations to document changes in policing over time.
