The Congress for the New Urbanism is an architecture and planning organization based in Oakland, California, that promotes walkable, mixed-use neighborhood development, sustainable communities, and healthier living conditions. Drawing on its Charter-inspired principles, it advocates for livable streets in compact blocks, diverse housing choices, destinations reachable by walking, biking, or transit, and a human-scaled public realm in which buildings define and enliven streets.
