Cook General BioTechnology, LLC (CGBT), was formed after Cook Medical purchased the private company, General BioTechnology, LLC., in the spring of 2012. CGBT is actively involved in cell therapy and has assisted in the development and refinement of advanced cryopreservation and banking procedures for differing cell and tissue types. The company provides an umbilical cord blood and umbilical cord tissue bank for individual families, The Genesis Bank, and a reproductive tissue bank, Genome Resources. CGBT has been awarded several Small Business Innovation Research grants by the National Institutes of Health to improve cryopreservation and biobanking procedures. CGBT is not only enhancing and expanding its current products and services, but also working with leading medical centers to help bring the promises of cell therapy to reality for the benefit of patients.
