The Cooperative Human Tissue Network (CHTN) is a biospecimen resource supported by the National Cancer Institute that provides human tissues and fluids obtained from routine surgical procedures and autopsies to researchers. Unlike many biobanks, CHTN works prospectively with each investigator to tailor specimen collection and processing to meet specific project requirements. Its purpose is to promote cooperative efforts to collect and distribute human biospecimens to facilitate research in cancer and to support basic and developmental studies in the field.

The organization comprises five adult divisions and one pediatric division, hosted at partner institutions including the University of Pennsylvania, University of Virginia, The Ohio State University, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Duke University, and Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
