Research Collaboration Expansion The Cooperative Human Tissue Network actively partners with major research institutions and national programs like the National Cancer Institute, indicating a strong network for collaborative projects and funding opportunities. This opens avenues for sales of complementary biospecimen solutions or research support technologies aimed at multi-institutional collaborations.

Funding and Growth Potential Recent large grants, including a $10 million program project from the NCI, highlight significant funding influxes into associated biomedical research initiatives. Companies providing innovative research tools, lab technologies, or data management solutions could capitalize on this funding for procurement opportunities.

Technological Integration The company employs a diverse tech stack incorporating analytics, web, and engagement tools like Crazy Egg and Adobe Tag Manager, suggesting an openness to adopting advanced tech solutions. This presents opportunities for vendors offering enhanced biospecimen processing, data security, or user engagement platforms tailored for research organizations.

Limited Revenue, High Potential With an estimated revenue between 1 to 10 million dollars and a lean team, CHTN appears to focus on specialized, high-value research services. Providing scalable, cost-effective solutions such as lab automation, specimen management, or sample tracking could meet their needs for efficiency without substantial overhead increases.

Market Positioning As a biospecimen resource supporting multiple divisions across leading institutions, CHTN is positioned as a critical player in cancer research infrastructure. Selling complementary products like biobanking equipment, data integration platforms, or investigator support services could strategically enhance their research capabilities and expand market share.

The Cooperative Human Tissue Network (CHTN) is a unique NCI supported biospecimen resource. The CHTN provides human tissues and fluids from routine surgical and autopsy procedures to investigators who utilize human biospecimens in their research. Unlike other biobanks, the CHTN works prospectively with each investigator to tailor specimen acquisition and processing to meet their specific project requirements. The purpose of the CHTN is to stimulate, for the good of the public, cooperative efforts to collect and distribute human biospecimens and to thereby, facilitate research utilizing those specimens. These activities are expected to encourage basic and developmental studies in many areas of cancer research.

The CHTN is comprised of 5 adult divisions and 1 pediatric division and are located at the following institutions:

CHTN Eastern Division - University of Pennsylvania
CHTN Mid-Atlantic Division - University of Virginia
CHTN Midwestern Division - The Ohio State University
