Cordova Electric Cooperative is the sole provider of electric energy for the remote, coastal community of Cordova, Alaska, serving as the essential utility for local residents and businesses. Based in Cordova, the cooperative operates within the utilities sector, focusing on delivering reliable power to a geographically isolated area where energy supply is a critical concern for daily life and operations. The organization appears to serve a local customer base led by residents and small enterprises, aiming to address electricity needs in a region where outages and energy costs can have pronounced impacts.

In recent developments, Cordova Electric Cooperative engaged with its broader industry context by launching an online survey to gather input on electricity use and outage experiences, and participated in a collaborative effort with other utilities and native organizations to advocate for funding support for rural energy costs. These actions reflect a role within the regional energy landscape that includes stakeholder engagement and coalition-building to address shared challenges in Alaska’s rural communities.
