Cosine is a London-based software development company that builds AI-powered coding tools for engineers. Its models have topped public benchmarks for two consecutive years, outperforming OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, and DeepSeek. It is positioned as Britain’s sovereign AI frontier lab, selected by the UK government for its Sovereign AI programme to train, own, and deploy a fully sovereign AI model entirely on UK soil—with access to the Isambard-AI supercomputer. The company supports air-gapped and on-premise deployments for defence, national security, and critical infrastructure, where foreign AI is legally off-limits. In 2026, Cosine is developing Lumen Sovereign in collaboration with some of the UK's largest organisations to design a frontier AI model trained entirely within the UK. Based in London, the firm operates with a small-to-mid-sized team.
