Insights

Innovative Customer Customization Cotton Cuts leverages a proprietary algorithm to personalize fabric subscriptions, providing a tailored experience for quilters and makers. This strong emphasis on customization and surprise delivery presents opportunities to upsell advanced personalization services or introduce premium product tiers to highly engaged customers.

Successful Market Expansion The acquisition of Stash Builder Box doubled the company's size and broadened its market reach within the quilting community seeking personalized fabric options. This expansion indicates strong growth potential and customer loyalty, making it ripe for targeted sales of complementary products or exclusive collaborations.

Sustainable Partnerships Partnerships with local light manufacturing and inclusive employment facilities like Valley Industries not only support scalable production but also position Cotton Cuts as a socially responsible brand. There is an opportunity to develop and market eco-friendly fabric lines or socially conscious product bundles to appeal to ethically driven consumers.

Recurring Revenue Model The subscription-based service, including high-margin 'project of the month' programs, ensures consistent revenue streams and engaged customer bases. Sales efforts could focus on expanding subscription upgrades, holiday themed boxes, or special edition collaborations to increase average order value.

Engaged Community Presence Hiring ambassadors like Katie and maintaining active participation in maker communities indicates a vibrant, loyal customer base. Leveraging this engagement through exclusive offers, community events, or partnerships with influential makers could drive increased sales and brand advocacy within the crafting community.

Cotton Cuts is an online provider of premium, precut textiles for the maker community. Cotton Cuts collects customer preferences and delivers a product that matches their unique quilting style as well as fabrics in their favorite color combinations on a monthly recurring basis. Cotton Cuts shipped our first boxes in October, 2016.

Cotton Cuts collects 4 dimensions of preference and has a proprietary algorithm that optimizes the customer experience. The customer has input over the product they receive while still retaining the element of surprise that comes with a monthly delivery. Cotton Cuts has the advantage to be the first mover to provide a subscription service that integrates customer preference. Competitors aren’t able to deliver on the true customer experience required to customize the offering. Cotton Cuts is doing just that.

In February of 2017, Cotton Cuts licensed a “project of the month” program from a designer in New Zealand. This program runs over 10 months and is offered 2 times a year – a very attractive business with high margins and nearly guaranteed 10 months of revenue.

In June of 2017, Cotton Cuts acquired Stash Builder Box, a line extension for Cotton Cuts. This acquisition opened the door into another market of quilters seeking customization with their fabric subscription offerings. This acquisition doubled the size of Cotton Cuts overnight.

Alliances have been formed with local fulfillment and light manufacturing partners. Cotton Cuts has partnered with Valley Industries (North County), a workshop for disabled workers in the St. Louis region. Valley has provided all of the manufacturing required to support Cotton Cuts finished products. They have the infrastructure to be able to scale with Cotton Cuts as the enterprise grows and create more jobs for those most in need in the St. Louis Region.
