The Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) is a membership-based nonprofit organization that represents applied public health epidemiologists across the United States. It supports collaboration and resource sharing among public health professionals to advance surveillance and epidemiologic practice. By focusing on state and territorial jurisdictions, it serves as a coordinating body within the broader public health system. The organization is based in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2022 it launched a Strategic Impact Plan with four pillars—Advance, Equip, Advocate, and Optimize—and expanded to more than 2,200 members, its largest size to date. It has a history of collaboration with federal agencies, including projects with the CDC to bolster state and jurisdictional surveillance efforts.
