Covenant House Washington is the local affiliate of Covenant House, an international 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to protecting and safeguarding homeless and at-risk youth. We meet the basic needs of youth on the streets – shelter, food, and clothing. Since 1995, CHW has worked with the most disadvantaged, disconnected youth, primarily from East of the River communities in the District of Columbia. Our services include the following: a 44 bed emergency shelter; transitional living apartments; workforce development training and job placement; education classes; case management and childcare for the infants and toddlers of our parenting youth. These programs and services are designed to assist youth on a path toward self-sufficiency and self-improvement. With the help of a strong board of committed volunteers, CHW has become a diverse organization with an annual operating budget of more than $5 million and a staff of nearly 60.
