Deckhouse was born from a simple idea—dreamed up after countless beach days on the Devon and Cornish coast, where the real world felt a million miles away. The founders wanted to bottle that easy going, toes-in-the-sand feeling, where the biggest decisions of the day were choosing between riding the waves or just kicking back with friends. As a new independent, Deckhouse set out to create a place with a laid-back vibe (swimwear optional!), and a genuine, social atmosphere that felt like a hidden gem on a Southwest beach. Picture a space that’s all about connection, good vibes, and unhurried enjoyment—the essence of the coast brought to life in a café-bar and restaurant setting. That vision became reality in December 2022 with the first Deckhouse in Taunton, where the community’s warm welcome gave it an energy that felt like being by the coast. The adventure continued in September 2024 with the opening of the second Deckhouse 166 miles away in Sevenoaks, a town close to the founders’ hearts. The response has been incredible, and with two thriving spots, there’s talk of a third—maybe somewhere along the route between Taunton and Sevenoaks, or perhaps a little more off the beaten path.
