The Deerfield Park District is a public sector entity in Deerfield, Illinois, established in 1951 to provide recreation programs and facilities for residents of all ages. The district's park system is funded primarily through a share of real estate property taxes and user fees, with district taxpayers given priority in all classes. It employs between 51 and 200 people and operates from 836 Jewett Park Drive, Deerfield, IL 60015. Its origins trace back to 1947 when residents formed the Jewett Park Association and purchased land later known as Jewett Park; the district became a member of the Illinois Association of Park Districts in 1951, purchased Jewett Park, and entered into a cooperative agreement with local school districts. The district opened its first facility, the fieldhouse in Jewett Park, in 1955; the Jewett Park Community Center opened in 1973, and in 2003 the Patty Turner Center opened as a joint program with the Village of Deerfield offering programs for adults 50 and above, with the fieldhouse later replaced by a park pavilion.
