The DEFY MFG.Co. began as one man’s simple dream to build a company he loved and leave behind a career he loathed.

Since 2008, DEFY’s founder Chris Tag and our team have worked diligently to design genuinely great bags and accessories that are hand-crafted with passion and made to last.

For our inspiration, we look to the past, back to a time when “American Made” was a stamp of honor, when our hometown of Chicago had real pride in the things we made here.

But we also find inspiration looking at today's generation of industrial startups, at the many new “slow manufacturing” companies founded and owned by craftspeople who are building amazing bikes, distilling small batch whiskey, or designing and making bespoke furniture, or curating small boutiques and selling handmade clothes.

We all have a lot in common: We’re driven by the desire to make premium products and build our companies on a founding principle of simple authenticity.

DEFY designs and manufactures all of our products in the United States, but we sell them all over the world. Our customers are as passionate about them as we are, and yet we’re permanently restless; we're constantly pushing ourselves to design more, make more, and (of course) sell more.

It's a daily struggle, but that's exactly as it should be. If it were easy, everyone would do it.
