DFINITY Foundation is a not-for-profit research organization based in Zürich, Switzerland, focused on the Internet Computer, a decentralized cloud designed to support AI-driven software. The platform enables applications to run end to end on a global network of independent nodes with tamperproof operation and continuous availability, governed by the developers rather than a vendor. Its architecture embeds guarantees in the protocol itself, ensuring behavior remains consistent across hardware changes and data-center transitions. The foundation operates in the technology, information, and internet sector and has sustained research and development since 2017 across cryptography, distributed systems, and programming language design, supported by a mid-sized team. Its ecosystem targets developers and organizations seeking a sovereign cloud for deploying AI-enabled apps and services, and in 2025 it hosted the World Computer Summit in Zurich.
