Discovering Justice is a Boston-based nonprofit focused on civic education about the justice system. Since 1998, it has collaborated with school systems, judges, nonprofits, community volunteers, and the legal community to help students and communities examine how the judicial process operates and to explore notions of justice, rooted in the civic mission associated with the Moakley U.S. Courthouse. The organization delivers in-school civics curricula, courthouse events, and an after-school Mock Trial and Mock Appeal program, reaching tens of thousands of participants and targeting Grades K-12 and the broader community to build foundational civic skills for active democratic participation. Its programs center on the judicial branch and provide age-appropriate frameworks for understanding democracy and governance. In May 2026, Discovering Justice marked its 25th anniversary with a Gala, reflecting ongoing engagement with supporters, partners, and community leaders.
