Down Under Construction (DUC), a Hylan Company, was founded by Daryl Dunbar in 1993 and is headquartered in Sterling, Virginia. At the time, trenchless construction was in its infancy, and DUC began fostering the relationships the company still maintains today. Although the industry segments that DUC serves have grown, and the services offered diversified, the company has always held its client relationships and the quality of work performed paramount. 

Today, DUC serves the Federal Government, Land Developers, Utilities, and large Electrical Contractors. Our highly diversified client base demands multiple capabilities: Design, Engineering, and Permitting are all in-house DUC professional services that result in greater speed to market with higher quality production.

DUC is considered one of the Mid-Atlantic region's principal pioneers in the directional drilling and underground construction industry. As trenchless installations became the preferred method of construction for industries outside the telecommunications sector, DUC grew exponentially to meet the demands of its increasing customer base. DUC started operations as a general contractor in the directional drilling field, and has now matured into a turnkey prime contractor offering an array of services including conceptual design/survey, trenching, boring, cable placement, duct bank construction, engineering, permitting, splicing, and restoration of landscaping, concrete and asphalt.
