Dream Flights is a nonprofit organization based in Carson City, Nevada, that provides free, open-air flights in fully restored WWII-era Stearman biplanes to senior veterans as a means of honoring their service and stories. The program relies on professional, volunteer pilots and support from corporate partners and individuals to offer life-changing experiences to those veterans, with more than 8,000 honored since its founding in 2011. The organization operates within the aviation and aerospace component manufacturing sector in a charitable, mission-driven capacity, positioning itself as a specialized facilitator of veteran recognition through flight experiences rather than commercial aviation services. In addition to its ongoing mission, Dream Flights has undertaken large-scale initiatives such as Operation September Freedom in 2021, a 61-day mission across multiple states to recognize a broad cohort of veterans, and it continues to collaborate with partner organizations and sponsors to expand access to its flights.
