Learn about Drexel University College of Medicine below and look at our campuses at bit.ly/DUCOMVirtualTours.

The College of Medicine is the consolidation of two venerable medical schools: Hahnemann Medical College and Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania. Established in 1848 and 1850, respectively, they were two of the earliest medical colleges in the U.S., and Woman’s was the first degree-granting medical school in the world for women.

The College of Medicine has over 1,200 medical students, and over 900 graduate students are enrolled in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies. The College is currently educating 1 in 75 MD students in the U.S.

The College of Medicine is committed to a diverse student body and encourages nontraditional applicants to apply. We seek highly qualified and motivated students who demonstrate the desire, intelligence and integrity to become excellent physicians.

Our Pediatrics Department, at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, is owned and operated in partnership with Tower Health and Drexel University. MD students can receive clinical education at over 20 affiliated sites chosen for commitment to teaching and medical excellence. In 2021, the College of Medicine opened a regional medical campus in collaboration with Tower Health near Reading Hospital, where MD students study and do clerkships for all four years. In 2023, the Health Sciences Building in University City opened in phases, bringing together all of Drexel’s health-related fields of study in one modern space.
