Early Stages DC operates as an evaluation center within the District of Columbia Public Schools. It provides free developmental evaluations for children aged 2 years 8 months to 5 years 10 months to identify delays or disabilities that may affect their education. The program serves DC children not enrolled in DCPS, including homeschooled children, and can evaluate non-DC residents who attend private schools or child care centers in DC; it does not evaluate children enrolled in public charter schools. Located in Washington, DC, the program is a small to mid-sized operation and functions as part of DCPS. In 2024, Early Stages DC partnered with Children’s National, reflecting ongoing collaboration with other educational and health institutions.
