Ecovidrio is the only SCRAP-sanctioned operator that conducts on-site selective collection of glass packaging waste and focuses on sustainability from the source. Since its inception in the late 1990s, the organization has developed a capture-and-recycle system designed to support the circular economy, drawing on partnerships with manufacturers, public administrations, and communities to advance recycling outcomes. In Spain, the system has achieved a high level of participation, with a substantial portion of glass packaging being recycled through the program, underpinned by a network that engages thousands of envasadoras and relies on the Punto Verde framework. Headquartered in Madrid, Ecovidrio operates as a non-profit entity responsible for managing glass waste recycling across the country. Over more than two decades, it has built a nationwide framework that is designed to be efficient and sustainable, reflecting its stated mission to respond to the sustainability needs of glass packaging from the origin.
