El Centro, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization based in Kansas City, Kansas, serving Wyandotte and Johnson Counties with a focus on Latinos and other community members. Its mission is to strengthen communities and improve lives through educational, social, and economic opportunities. Founded in 1976 with support from the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas and local partners, the organization has grown from a single program to three locations serving more than 10,400 individuals and families each year.

Its program portfolio includes a bilingual early education program for young children, health education and navigation delivered through health promoters, health outreach, domestic violence prevention and intervention, and policy advocacy addressing community needs. Among recent initiatives, it launched Bienvenido a Mi Casa, a pilot to assist first-time Latino homeowners, and is developing The State of Latino Kansas — Community Assessment. In 2026, the Promotoras program received an Excellence in Community Service Award for linking Latino families with essential health, housing, and advocacy resources.
