The Emerson Theater Collaborative, based in Mystic, Southeastern Connecticut, is a professional theater company established in 2008 to present innovative and thought-provoking productions in the region. It obtained 501(c)(3) status in 2009, establishing its nonprofit operating framework. In 2016, the organization opened a second branch in Sedona, Arizona, expanding its regional footprint. Its mission centers on serving youth, under-represented communities, and artists—with an emphasis on diversity—by producing theater across Southeastern Connecticut and Sedona. ETC develops both emerging and professional artists and collaborates with the Emerson College network of alumni and students. In January 2024, ETC partnered with Verde Valley School to present a free reading of works by Zora Neale Hurston and Langston Hughes.
