Empire Comfort Systems is a mid-sized, family-owned manufacturing company based in Belleville, Illinois, that supplies a full line of gas-fired heating products to independent dealers. The business traces its roots to a 1911 sheet-metal shop and was incorporated in 1932, with the Bauer family continuing to lead across four generations. Its offerings include vented and vent-free heaters and fireplaces, as well as related log sets and inserts, all produced in the United States. Throughout its history, Empire has pursued efficiency milestones in gas heating, being among the first to equip vent-free units with an oxygen depletion sensor and achieving notable efficiency benchmarks in the 1980s and 2006 with 80% and 90% efficiency products, respectively. The company primarily serves independent dealers and remains controlled by the Bauer family, continuing a long-standing family ownership tradition.
