Emulate is a software platform based in Lund, Gävleborg, Sweden, focused on transforming how utilities manage residential energy resources. Acting as a neutral orchestration layer, it enables home assets such as electric vehicles, heat pumps, photovoltaic systems, and batteries to become controllable, measurable, and monetizable flexibility within electricity markets, including ancillary services, intraday trading, and distribution system operator programs. The design integrates with existing utility stacks without requiring tariff migrations or new hardware in most cases, allowing utilities to deploy quickly, often in days rather than quarters.

The platform connects more than 60 device brands through standard APIs and coordinates their operation in response to real-time grid signals, inside the utility’s own branding and apps. It targets utilities, retailers, and DSOs seeking to implement demand-side programs, and is already in use by several utilities such as Skellefteå Kraft, Öresundskraft, Entega, EnBW, Göteborg Energi, Bixia, Telinet, and EMS. In March 2026, Emulate announced a strategic partnership with Hansen Technologies Limited to expand its capabilities in residential flexibility.
