Energy Observer began as the hydrogen-powered vessel that demonstrated energy self-sufficiency and served as a laboratory for ecological transition, and it has since grown into an organization that blends expeditions with practical innovations. Through a round-the-world odyssey, the group engages with people and projects developing sustainable solutions, turning each stopover into a learning opportunity. Based in Saint-Malo, Brittany, it operates in the climate technology sector with a focus on maritime energy systems and related innovations. It pursues practical testing and collaboration with partners across the maritime and energy sectors to advance low-carbon solutions. Notably, in 2025 a collaboration with Rockwell Automation was announced to support the development and launch of the EO3 watercraft. This partnership reflects ongoing efforts to combine industrial automation and digital transformation with hydrogen-based maritime technology.
