Originating in Ecuador in 2009, EO now operates from New York City and serves communities, companies, and governments seeking credible, independent assessments of social and environmental performance in energy projects. In February 2025, the organization announced partnerships with the Internet Society Foundation and TechSoup to expand connectivity in the Amazon.
