Essex Region Conservation Authority is a public sector organization established by the Province in 1973 and governed by local municipalities to deliver programs and services aimed at conserving, restoring, developing, and managing natural resources within the Windsor-Essex County–Pelee Island watershed. Based in Windsor, Ontario, within the Windsor-Essex region, it collaborates with regional partners and municipalities to steward wetlands, habitats, and water resources for the benefit of the community. The authority participates in community and conservation activities, including events such as Earth Day tree planting and conservation awards that recognize local environmental contributions. A recent development involves partnering with the Nature Conservancy of Canada to conduct a prescribed burn of about 20 hectares of Phragmites at Tremblay Beach Conservation Area, as part of habitat restoration efforts. In its role within the public policy and regional conservation space, ERCA supports watershed management and natural resource stewardship across the Windsor-Essex region.
