Kawartha Conservation is a watershed-based, non-profit environmental organization serving parts of Ontario. Formed in 1979 under the Ontario Conservation Authorities Act, it operates as one of the province's 36 conservation authorities and is governed by the municipalities within its watershed, which encompasses portions of the City of Kawartha Lakes and surrounding townships. Based in Lindsay, the organization pursues the conservation, restoration, and responsible management of water, land, and natural habitats through programs and services designed to balance human, environmental, and economic needs. Its work targets local governments, landowners, and not-for-profit groups within the watershed, providing practical support to address watershed-scale challenges. Recent developments include the launch of the 2025 Water Fund to offer funding, knowledge, and technical assistance to landowners and community organizations, and a partnership with BC Parks Foundation’s PaRx program to promote nature prescriptions and environmental protection.
