The European University Association (EUA) is a Brussels-based organization in the higher education sector that serves as a collaborative network for universities and national rectors’ conferences across 48 European countries, along with affiliated organisations and networks beyond Europe. It aims to support the interests of individual institutions and the higher education system as a whole and to influence policy and practice at the European level. EUA plays a central role in shaping the European Higher Education Area and in informing EU policy on higher education, research, and innovation, ensuring the voice of European universities is considered in decisions affecting their activities. The organization maintains topic-focused groups, including the EUA Council on Doctoral Education, Quality Assurance in European Higher Education, and Learning & Teaching in Europe, and it shares news, events, publications, and policy positions. In 2026, EUA published a joint set of proposed amendments to the draft Erasmus+ regulation with sixteen partner organisations, reflecting ongoing engagement with European policy developments.
