The Exceptional Learners Collaborative (ELC) is a special education cooperative based in Vernon Hills in the Buffalo Grove area of Lake County, Illinois. It represents Kildeer Countryside School District 96, Lincolnshire–Prairie View School District 103, Adlai E. Stevenson High School District 125, with Fox Lake District 114 participating as a non-voting member. The cooperative operates eight elementary schools, four middle schools, and one high school to serve students with special needs ages 3 through 22. Its service area encompasses multiple communities including Buffalo Grove, Kildeer, Long Grove, Lincolnshire, Riverwoods, Prairie View, Hawthorn Woods, Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Lake Zurich, Mettawa, Fox Lake, and Spring Grove. The organization provides a full continuum of supports, including related services (such as therapy, social work, and psychology), psychoeducational assessments, and early intervention through transition. It also offers early childhood screenings, assistive technology consultation, and professional development, curricular, and technology consultation and support for the participating districts.
