Exploration Place is a private nonprofit science and discovery center located in downtown Wichita, Kansas, governed by a self-perpetuating Board of Trustees and operated in partnership with Sedgwick County as the county’s science and discovery hub. The institution centers on STEM-based exhibits, a dome theater with a 60-foot-tall, 360-degree screen, and a planetarium, along with programs designed to engage visitors across ages. Its 100,000-square-foot facility houses eleven hands-on exhibits on topics such as aviation, Kansas heritage, medieval life, architecture, health, and space for toddlers, with space for traveling exhibitions as well. Outside indoor galleries, Exploration Place features Exploration Park, a picnic area, and an 18-hole mini-golf course, and it can be rented for weddings, receptions and corporate events. Education is central to its mission, offering school visits and outreach programs aligned to Kansas State Standards, along with camps, homeschool activities, and youth programs that have reached nearly 30,000 participants. Recent developments include hosting community events such as the Wichita Duck Race in June 2026.
