Family Crisis Services is a domestic violence resource center serving Cumberland County, Maine, with its base in Portland. It provides safe, accessible services to people affected by abuse and emphasizes advocacy for victims and safety for their children, while proposing accountability for perpetrators and community education to address underlying norms. The center offers a broad slate of programs, including a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, support and education groups, safety planning, and outreach that partners with courts and other locations in the county. It conducts extensive community education, consultation, and training, notably through its Young Adult Abuse Prevention Program (YAAPP). In 2018, the organization partnered with Maine Boys to Men and Sexual Assault Response Services of Southern Maine to extend a program addressing sexism and violence.
