The Federal Court of Australia is a federal superior court established by the Federal Court of Australia Act 1976, with operations beginning on 1 February 1977. It consolidated and extended federal jurisdiction previously exercised by parts of the High Court and entirely by the Australian Industrial Court and the Federal Court of Bankruptcy.
