Feeding South Dakota is a hunger-relief nonprofit based in Sioux Falls that works to reduce food insecurity across the state. It advances its mission by distributing food and coordinating with partner organizations, aided by a network through Feeding America that provides access to donated products for a wider range of shelf-stable items. Each week the organization supports about 21,000 hungry individuals and families, and its BackPack Program delivers weekend meals to roughly 5,500 children. Community support—through money, food, and volunteer time—plays a central role in its work. Founded in 1975, Feeding South Dakota has a history of moving large volumes of food, including 13.5 million pounds in 2016. It operates in the non-profit sector with a local focus and pursues partnerships with other community organizations; a recent development is a collaboration with the Black Hills Area Community Foundation announced in November 2025 to strengthen its efforts.
