FFLA, based in Maitland, Florida, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing access to the justice system for people with limited means. It accomplishes this by funding civil legal aid, developing innovative tools and programs, and supporting legal aid providers and the courts. Through strategic grantmaking, FFLA supports local and statewide civil legal aid efforts to improve justice administration and the efficiency of the legal aid delivery system. The organization also conducts catalytic philanthropy, investing in training, technology, technical assistance, assessment, and capacity-building for legal aid and in developing pro bono initiatives. Its beneficiary groups include disaster survivors, children, veterans, the elderly, and others who have limited access to legal services. Originating in 1956 as The Florida Bar Foundation under the Florida Bar Board of Governors, the entity adopted the name FFLA in 2023; in January 2025, it supported Southern Legal Counsel with more than $1.3 million in grants to expand its services.
