The š šš provides First Nations with the tools required to govern their communities and manage finances. It supports First Nations in development of sound finance and administrative governance practices. The š šš is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. šš¢š¬ššØš«š²: In the Spring of 2005, the Government of Canada enacted the š¹ššš š” ššš”šššš š¹šš ššš šššššššššš” š“šš” (šš“šØ) which gave First Nations the option to participate under the ššš¼. To enable First Nations to participate, the ššš¼ established three Indigenous Institutions: 1. First Nations Finance Authority (š šš š) 2. First Nations Tax Commission (š ššš) 3. First Nations Financial Management Board (š šš) The purpose of these institutions was to create a mechanism to provide support and tools to First Nations to strengthen their communities and build foundations for economic development.
